I Understand You… Let Me Represent You.
I Understand You
- I have lived in the Gympie district for 15 years.
- I was born in Longreach and schooled in the west Queensland town of Mitchell. I have spent time on cattle and sheep stations and I understand the bush.
- During my 6 years in the Australian Army I was taught electronics and used this trade to gain employment in a number of lucrative jobs both in Australia and for 8 years, overseas.
- I married late in life, inheriting a step daughter and also raising three children of my own.
- After returning to Australia I spent 5 years in Brisbane as a field service engineer for a computer and office machine company before our family moved to Gympie to farm passionfruit.
- I understand horticulture.
- I have spent some time in the dairy industry, run my own cattle (60 head), and I am familiar with the requirements of farmers and graziers.
- I enjoy working with my hands, have been an owner builder and I can relate to most trades.
- My background in electronics has afforded me a degree of computer literacy beyond the mainstream level and I believe, helps place me at an advantage for local government politics.
- I am community minded and am currently involved with the James Nash P&C, Queensland Council of P&C Associations, Cooloola Range Complex, Mooloo Hall and Cooloola Residents League. I have been a grants officer with the Tin Can Bay S.S.A.A.
- My hobbies are competition target shooting, golf, and I dabble in astronomy from time to time. Also, I regard running a few head of cattle as more of a hobby than a job.
- I have an easy going personality, but also have the capacity to pursue a point when the situation demands it.
I am passionate about democracy.
I am passionate about our provincial lifestyle, I love the bush and I am aware of your needs.
I understand you…Let me represent you.
