INTEGRITY

Welcome to my website.

It is my aim to be part of a truly representative, accountable and vibrant regional council.
I was born in Longreach and grew up in the small south west Queensland town of Mitchell. (80 kilometres west of Roma.), and I have lived in the Gympie district for 15 years.
I have had hands on experience in farming and grazing and spent two years in a dairy support shop.

As an owner builder and incurable “D.I.Y.er”, I understand the requirements of most trades.

I was taught electronics during my six years in the Australian Army and used this knowledge to hold down a number of  jobs both in Australia and overseas.

I believe in the synergism of teamwork.

I am the father of three children, and I believe I have the experience, conviction and integrity to provide you with a high standard of representation.

Please note: I campaign with the Integrity Group to pay the bills, but I stand as an Independent (as do all Integrity Group Candidates.)

Phone me on 54834802, or Email: alan@alandray.com

If you have ever had your letters to council disappear into a mysterious black hole and you would like them published, send them to me. I will place them on the web under “Media.”

DEAR EDITOR,

I am a little amazed at the reaction of Kim Bowditch to my attempt to connect with the young and young at heart. (Great Photo, Gympie Times, Saturday, 16th Feb. ).

Kim has obviously never ridden a dirt bike and is probably not aware of the fact that it is possible to repeatedly wheel-stand certain classes of machines with complete predictability. The only thing most riders will find hard to do is smile at the same time they wheel-stand. It took my son and I more than thirty shots (all without incident), to get it right.

The motorcycle I used was an observed trials machine, a Yamaha TY250B, the same bike I use for mustering. This machine is made to jump over logs and wheel-stands easily from a standing start. In the early days of observed trials international champions (eg, Mick Andrews), appeared professionally on TV wheel-standing and jumping obstacles on their competition bikes wearing only a baseball cap as headgear.

Also, no farmer I know wears a helmet when using his ag bike, horse or quad for mustering.

Perhaps it is I true that I may have sent the wrong message to some, regarding helmets and safety, but I assumed most kids and adults would cut me a little electioneering slack as the bike riders I know wear safety gear if it’s dangerous, or tie and jacket if they are hamming it up for the camera.
